Frame Colour
Black (Artist’s Choice)
Why This Works
A Black frame is the ultimate choice for Fear. It allows the frame to disappear into the dark edges of the print, making the artwork feel boundless and fully immersing the viewer in its moody atmosphere.
The Vibe (Immersive & Intense)
This creates a high-drama, gallery-style look that perfectly matches the gravity of the subject matter.
Wood
Why This Works
A Natural Wood frame provides a warm, organic contrast to the cold, digital shadows. It suggests that fear is a natural, necessary part of the growth process, grounding the abstract piece.
The Vibe (Sophisticated & Grounded)
Softens the intensity of the darkness for a more domestic, integrated feel.
White
Why This Works
A White frame creates a stark "window" effect. It forces the eye into the centre of the darkness, making the struggle of the pale light feel even more pronounced.
The Vibe (Modern & Graphic)
Ideal for bright, minimalist spaces that value high-contrast statement pieces.
Artist's Nudge
To truly honour the "weight of the journey" in this stage, I highly recommend the Black frame. It creates a seamless transition from the wall into the shadows of the cocoon, allowing the subtle, pale light at the centre to feel like a true beacon of hope within the dark.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does 'Stage Two' mean in the Cocoon Series?
Stage Two represents the "heavy" part of the metamorphosis. After the initial retreat (Stage One), Fear represents the moment we have to face our internal shadows before we can begin to grow.
Is the print as dark as it looks on screen?
We use 12-colour Giclée printing which excels at capturing deep, velvety blacks. On our 200gsm matte paper, the shadows have an incredible depth without any surface glare, making the textures feel very "tactile."
Why is the light so blurred in this piece?
The blur is intentional; it represents how fear can cloud our vision and make our own "inner light" feel distant or difficult to reach while we are inside the cocoon.
How should I pair this with other Cocoon prints?
Many collectors pair Fear with Evolution (Stage Four) to create a "Shadow and Light" diptych, showing the progression from internal struggle to authentic self-expression.
Does the frame include glass?
To ensure your art arrives safely and is protected for years to come, we use shatter-resistant UV perspex. It provides the same clarity as glass but is much safer and protects the print from fading.
Will this look good in a bright room?
Yes. Because the paper is museum-grade matte, it won't reflect light from windows. In a bright room, the pale white elements will stand out sharply against the dark textures.
